A while back I sent some wood to the US for stabilising, and some of it for dying first. It was waiting for me when I got back from the Moot and I have been gradually cleaning up some of the blocks. Thought I would share. I can't wait to get to work on some of these! These are all spalted silver maple burl that I harvested here in the UK. I picked what I thought of as 2nd quality blocks for the dying process and I think that worked out rather well!!

:lmao:I think the blue will be good on some kitchen knives I want to make. I am not generally a fan of brightly dyed wood handles on outdoors knives. Will see if I change my mind....Not sure if I like the brown, its okay, but I do like how the black has come out. Some is definitely darker than others, but its all good and has enhanced the grain patterns.

@Stew
You have nailed it, but my problem is like that for all the wood I have! I started getting really reluctant to use pieces from the last batch as I began being able to see the bottom of the box it was stored in! This new batch should allow me to use the material rather than just hoard it!
