That is a very nice present, I bet your glad that Toddy likes it. It is a very nice knife that is some skill you have there. I am toying with the idea of making one myself, just not had the time or courage yet. Well done there fella.

Simon thanks for the comments, get stuck in and make one, the first one I made was an F1 and I still use it now, infact a lot of the time the only other knife that I use will be a frosts clipper.

It was a relief that Toddy liked it, but I had an inkling that she liked the WM1 from past discussion.

Quick update on this lovely shiny thing :D
Photos are a-coming, they're just not on my camera.......I was too busy playing with the knife

I borrowed Justintime's daughter's WM1 a couple of years ago to try, and the black handle apart, I really liked the knife.
All the good points stood the test of time, and Leon has overcome the ones that kind of let the knife down.

The handle fits beautifully, no hot spots to rub into blisters and that's a neat trick for me; I don't look that small but my rings are only a sizes K & L . I suspect Leon kept it neat knowing I have trouble with thicker handles. That said, not one of the men who tried the knife over the weekend would have turned it down given a chance....However, this one is mine, all mine!

The scales are beautifully figured, warm and tactile, and the blade itself is that useful balance of fine enough to work veggies and cordages but strong enough for carving and battoning. Even I manage feathersticks with it :D Easy sharpened simply by stropping (thanks Graham) unless I get incredibly clumsy I can't see it needing more than that.

The sheath is absolutely perfect with the knife. I prefer my knife hanging on a baldric that allows me to tuck the knife into my righthand skirt or trouser pocket, and it now sports a braided paracord baldric courtesy of JFW. I've used the stitched in loop to thread this through and the knife is safe and secure in the friction fit.

On the whole I really wouldn't change a thing about the set. I can wholeheartedly recommend the WM1 to anyone as a truly excellent, useable, do anything, knife.....and Leon's workmanship, as just superb :D

Mary
