Good job these are only 1/4". They're all over the garden walls and shed, here it's on the shed wall, they don't seem to spin a web but seem to keep a safety line attached when they're jumping about. Here's the original photo reduced to 800 x 600

and the Spider cropped from the original then reduced to 800 x 600

just thought I'd share and ask for a name ? cheers all Danny

Yeah, you are all right it's called the zebra spider (Salticus scenicus) and jumping spider. They are ferocious little fellas. Try tapping by them to make them jump, they have a go at you. Made me jump six feet the first time I did it.

Derek is a terrible name for this spider. The one in the picture is a female.

Maybe Debbie...

Definitely Salticus scenicus, the Zebra spider though. I rescued one from work today, whilst the office girls shrieked in terror and generally over-reacted. Sigh... :dunno:

They keep trying to come in our bedroom window  The cat suns herself on that windowsil, ever seen a cat go straight up as a spider jumps 'towards' her and lands on her nose ???? :yikes:
Funniest thing I'd seen in ages :D

cheers,
M
