Hi, what do you do when it's a bit wet and horrible? Well put you coat on and go and do something you haven't done for ages! So off we went to Jays Grave (not very exciting, but an interesting story) Then we went to Bowermans Nose (a lot more dramatic and interesting, also a good tale attached) A bit blowy and wet, but that also means peace and solitude, coz others don't bother when it's orrible! I had not been to B/Nose, for years, and forgotten just how beautiful and a spiritual it is, anyway too many pics!

Might even take a few up there from the meet next week, only a 15 minute car ride from camp, and not to demanding walk.

Certainly blew the cobwebs away.

Thanks for looking.

Ivan, Alison and Nutmeg...

I walked up there a few years ago and your right its an amazingly beautiful place, although we did do it in the summer.

Can't help hearing Seth Lakeman's "Kitty Jay" when I see Jay's Grave.

Great pics as always Ivan, especially like the liverwort and the wind blown tree with the formation behind. You are so right as to folk not wandering in the rain. Was out this morning and it was pretty driech here - no-one in site. Heading off to look for 'shrooms later on, will get wet no doubt but that means warming up with soup on my return.

Keep the trip reports coming; enjoy them greatly.

TTFN,
GB.

PS Off to Google the places to find out the stories.

Hi Ivan, read up on your trip today and Jays Grave reminded me of a place not far from me. It's a monument to a witch who was burned in 1657 called Maggie Wall. No-one knows who refreshes the paint on the monument as it's always done at night and a lot of folk still bring and leave her wee gifts. Here's a LINK to a local website about it.

Ecoman, I've seen that very truck camping on the shores of Loch Lomond. It's massive and yup I'd love one too.
