Maybe its just me being silly and not knowing that there are even more firesteels than I thought there were, but isnt this the longest firesteel you've ever seen??  :yikes: here

is it possible the photo is tampered with?

:D :27:

but anyway, Mine is bigger!

i was given one by a USAF survival kit servicer which measuers in at!

wait for it!!! :D :D

12.5cm! (nearly 5")

and it's just over 1.2 cm thick!(0.5")
:p Ha ha!

before you ask, it does the same thing it is a fire steel,
and no i don't know where to get one from!
and it hasn't got a name or any manufacture stamp or any identifiable feature, i
it's just a plain stick!
i have spoken to alot of bushcrafters and instructors no ones seen one before
if i knew i'd buy another!

Dont you realise that size does not matter, cos its all in the wrist action, (so I keep telling my wife) :)

Wow, that's a BIG firesteel. It makes mine look like a children's toy :) I was duped when I ordered mine from MEC though, the photo was deceiving! I assumed that the one I was looking at was the army model, but when it arrived it turned out to be the scout model which is quite a bit smaller. Oh well, for ten bucks I can't complain.

Cheers,

Adam

At the other end of the scale, does anyone know a reliable supplier of the very fine firesteels, like the ones on the side of the Magnesium blocks?

Ta, and apologies for the minor hijack.

:approve: mines bigger.

But seriously i reckon i must have been given a ferrocerium flint rod
it looks, sonds and, acts like one!

it's just.....a very, very, big one in girth and length :approve: !

s'funny how people think they can "make-up" for lack of size, if it was the case then why is everyone quick to defend their own tool? ;)
