Yeah it's grown into a culture of it's own. It all started with the Rodeo Championship Buckles many, many decades ago, which in turm came from the Chapionship Belts in prized fighting.
I have a small (very small) collection of said buckles:
-A brass Texas State buckle
-A silver and turquoise buckle
-A USAF commemorative buckle
-A CSA buckle
Many of my fellow officers back at the prison had Florida Dept. of Corrections buckles.
Men's jewelry I suppose; right along with tie tacks/bars, watches, signet rings, class rings, etc.
