OK, maybe you can't but you can improve the slip case that it lives in.

Carefully cut the stitching with a sharp knife.
Once the 2 pieces of leather are apart turn them inside out, line the stitch holes up and stitch them back together again

Then just load the leather with stropping compound and your done.

Job takes 5 minutes and you now have a useful field strop to add the perfect finish to your knife.

neat idea! Whats stropping compound by the way?

Stropping compound is a gritty substance that is used to do a final polish on a blade. It's very similar to jewellers rouge and does wonders on a blade. I probably only take my knives to a stone once every six months, sometimes even less. All you need to do is load up a leather belt (or in this case a DC4 sheath) with the compound and strop away. I occasionally use old cereal boxes. Basically a block of compound is very much like an oversized crayon. Rub it all over the box and strop.

I (well my mrs) has just done this and it works great.
One thing we did was to only turn the back one around so i could keep the shiny side with the impression on display. Also it gives me two different types of strop to use.
Great idea cheers.

Nice idea.

Question tho: do you need any leatherworking equipment to stitch it back together again, or can you just use a normal needle since the holes are already there?
