Looks like an orchid of some kind

Is it from Tuscany ? or did I not read that bit correctly ?

An orchid is correct. That's a Twayblade. Listera cordata.

Widespread in Europe, including the UK. I've seen quite a few this year.

Lovely pics though, especially of the green flowers.

Thanks fore that. Yes it was growing in Tuscany, in a chestnut wood.
She will be pleased to have it confirmed as an orchid.
