... a big thanks to Monkey boy following our meet up on Saturday.
It was a great afternoon and shows how usueful this forum is for a newbie like me not just for the useful info but to actually arrange a meet up with others who want to practice bushcraft.
There was lots of use, and admiring of, axes and knives, a bit of outdoor cooking, a bit of tarpiology and i got my first proper introduction to the bow drill and how to make one from scratch. I may not have got an ember but at least i now know the technique and cant thank Monkey boy enough for his unending patience.
For any other newbies just joined up i strongly recommend finding someone local on the forum and arranging a meet up, it was great meeting someone with a shared interest and despite my wifes sarcastic comments i didnt need to wear a carnation and neither of us were axe murderers.
