Ex Leeds, now Killala
My thoughts to some of our American cousins who post here and are in her way.

I hope you come out unaffected.

Oh, and in true keeping to the situation, don't forget the photos!

Take care.

It has made landfall in NC. Raining here and getting windy in central Virginia. I am hoping I am west (enough) of the heavier sustained winds. Worst period of wind and rain to be from 5pm - 2 am local today. Got all prep complete and touched base with local family and neighbors. Now just waiting.

Stay safe Gordon.

Bushwhacker, I haven't seen a lot of footage from the Bahamas or Puerto Rico. Only scattered reports.

I'll check in until I have a loss of power. Eye of the hurricane is still down in NC. Over 1/2 million without power already in Virginia. Richmond / Tri cities area have over 200, 000 without power. Rain coming in driving bands and winds here (Cumberland County) are coming in infrequent gusts. 40 MPH highest gust so far in our area (from the Farmville, Va. airport). Normal reporting of trees down (not many) in my county. Lights flashing here at the house, so I expect to loose power as the storm approaches. Those east of here are having a tougher time. Those folks are in my thoughts and prayers.

I still have power here at the house. Between Dominion Power and various electric coops over a million customers out of power. Three confirmed deaths in Virginia at this time, each involving downed trees. Richmond metro area has thousands of downed trees due to rain saturated ground and wind. Some parts of eastern Virginia have had over 16 inches of rainfall so far. The eye of the storm is adjacent to Virgina Beach with a big part of the eye out in the ocean. Actual track a bit east of projections and now moving faster than projected. Into the "meat" of the storm here for us. We are faring well here in Cumberland, compared to folks east of here.

Irene outta here for us! I have not lost power (lucky this time) but my inlaws have about 2 miles away. Over 1 million customers in Virginia without power. I woke to a beautiful sunny morning just a short while ago. Debris clearing teams out in force opening roadways from downed trees in the Richmond Metro area. Electrical workers are on hand from seven other states to give our electrical workers a hand with the enormous task of restoring power. Some may be out of power for as much as two weeks, according to Dominion Power officials. I'll post again after our Governor's next press conference. Again, my thoughts and prayers are with those who have lost family members and those who have suffered damage to their homes.

A friend from Brooklyn has just messaged me to say it has pretty much passed. He says it was'nt much more than a normal storm where he was.

Yeah I've been seeing reports from farther up the coast that agreed with that. Having said that though the official weather forecasts say the rivers and other waters won't crest for a few days yet so I'll wait and see.

Anybody hear what it's doing as it crosses into Canada? I believe Montreal is in it's path (at least for some pretty heavy rainfall)
