HTC HD7 - how to manually select from available networks ?

Anyone got an HTC HD7 ?

If so, how do you select from a list of available networks ?

A friend of mine has just bought one on O2 and is stuck in Dubai with no emails - it was working perfectly in the UK, and all relevant services are enabled on his O2 account.

Roaming/data are both enabled on the phone itself but the phone has defaulted to the Etisalat network. O2 recommend using either of the AL JAWAL, Mobily or Zain networks for their services to work in Middle East/Emirates countries.

Anyone got a UK one and care to offer a menu sequence to select from available networks ?

I dont have hd7 but do have a desire hd. Just had a quick look on that ant the sequence is menu, settings, wireless and networks, mobile networks, network selection (select manual), then the handset does a search and lets you select whats available.

Thanks for the suggestion Jon, but your phone runs an entirely different operating system to the HD7 and the menus are very, very different as a result.

I registered on the forum suggested by andynic but got no respose so, in desperation I resorted to calling HTC UK support

In under two minutes I had the answer I was looking for as well as the page number (and download link) of the UK product manual for future reference.

Thumbs up HTC support, and Greg, my mate, is now receiving emails again on his phone

The menu options are:

From the Start screen, tap through to HTC Hub.

Once in HTC Hub tap the option for “Get more”.

Tap Connection Setup.

You should now have options for Auto/manual

The Connection Setup automatically configures your phone’s settings but if you see more than one mobile operator, you can select your preferred mobile operator.

If you select the option to configure your connection manually from the “Auto/manual” option then you can select or choose the Country or Operator you want to use.

For Saudi Arabia/Emirates O2 recommend AL JAWAL, Mobily or Zain and not Etisalat, which is what the phone had automatically hooked onto.

Actually, it didn't work at first but I suggested changing the timezone back to UK and things sprang back to life - his Exchange mail server initially rejected the attempt to synchronise due to an out-of-step time stamp on the phone
