The old timers round these here parts used to shoot the wood out the helve. But because we are not allowed real bullets they used up a whole tin of .22 air gun pellets over a wet weekend.

I'm wondering if it would have been quicker or better using .177?

sorry if i ask a dumb question..: how do you soak a piece of metal?! and what is the purpose of soaking an axe head in molasses?!

You put the piece of metal in a plastic tub and pour molasses over it.

The molasses removes rust by a process known as chelation.

I think its just a process similar to reverse oxidisation (reduction). It won't prevent it rusting again :)

Sorry if this sounds rude but that just sounds like a pointless, pellet wasting, possibly dangerous, waste of time way to do something....if it was a joke post then sorry, I missed the joke! ;)
