I'd like to know if anyone know's or tried to varnish / Spray on a Ferro-Rod to waterproof it when they are used and starting to Power-up meaning decay.
And yes I know the best way is to keep it dry.

Bees wax - I have more wax than I do nail varnish....
All you need do is keep out any moisture. Vas from your cotton wool/vas tinder also works
I prefer Flint and Steel anyway :)

I "borrowed" a somewhat shocking reddish-pink nail varnish from my wife, the idea being that as well as protecting the rod, it is easier to spot when I inevitably drop it on the ground. I also tend to use orange paracord loops on my firesteels for the same reason.

Oh I bet you'd spot it, Problem is someone else might. it's a unfamiliar skill set I'm not accustom to, But I think for now I'll stick to the Clear Nail stuff/Paint thing.
