How is this done ?

It'll be Autumn soon, and I usually make a bouquet and a wreath of fallen leaves. I live surrounded by trees, from Sycamore to Ash, Oak, Willow, Hazel, Birch, Beech....I know I'm fortunate, but it's just home.

I spotted this, someone weaving a hat from leaves, and I can't figure out how to start it or to keep it flowing. I am going to have a play though, we have a huge sycamore right outside the lane gate, I don't think I'll be short of resources

Interesting... There seems to be a slightly longer version Here on FB. I know if I tried that it would disintegrate as soon as I put it on my head.

I reckon it's going to fall apart in my hands until I get the hang of it, I'm still trying to work out in my head how to fold and hold the leaves until they're fixed in place.

A Large Burdock leaf held together with a twig or feather at the stalk end makes an excellent hat. Also, I have seen some indigenous people in parts of North America make hats from woven Typha green leaves. Because the leaves are cellular, they are also cool, and Typha insulates the head from the sun's heat.
