Bought myself a new pair of sheepskin type and wool lined boots. Not Uggs, but Clark's :) I found a pair of 3.5's :D :D
They're warm and comfortable and I don't think they have any proofing on them at all
The soles are fine, they're the shaped moulded crepe stuff, so it's only the uppers that need the proofing.

Same as these.

Any ideas what best to use ?

cheers,

Nikwax do a "Nubuck and Suede" proofer - might be worth a try.

I used to use it on a pair of dessert boots - the colour darkened a bit when you first use it but after a few days I couldn't really tell any difference - but then I never really wore them in any challenging terrain or weather either.

Ogri the trog

Dang and blast, beaten to it again!

+1 for the above Nikwax product - I wore a pair of sheepskin boots for a long time and this worked superbly on them; the big bonus for me is that as soon as they let in a little damp you can wet-clean them and apply this stuff straight away to the wet/damp boot; in fact it seems to work better that way, and the DWR thus provided lasted a good long time...........................

I use Nikwax suede and nubuck proofer too. It seems like a watered down version of the leather product TBH.

As Mac says, works best on wet suede.

Any spray that based on Scotchguard TM - its sold under various trade names such as "rain and stain suede protector". Do it outdoors because it stinks of acetone.

Thank you all kindly :D It's appreciated.

But guess what ? :) The post has just been, and I've won a free Nikwax sample :D ......and it's a wee sachet of "Waterproofing wax for leather" :) It won't do for these suede boots, but it will do for my new shoes. Happy egg :)

Synchronicity rules ! :D
