Horses hoof fungus dye

I recently made some amadou (still drying so I dont know how good it is!) but I had the idea that the liquer fromm the boiling with ashes could be saved as a dye for fabrics.
1/ Am I right - can it?
2/ what colour will it give?
3/ What mordant should I use? Salt?
4/ Do I just boil up the fabric in the liquer? Should I dilute the liquer first? It is very dark brown and I have about a pint of it.
Any ideas?

I think Toddy is the one to answer this one, i think it comes out as a bushcraft green colour
