Not quite sure if it grows on S/Birch, as the name suggests looks like a Horses Hoof ;)

That is most likely to be Birch Polypore (Piptoporous betulinus), the Hoof Fungus is (Fomes fomentarius) and usally grows on large deciduous trees like Beech.
