you can use the inside layer as tinder there should be plenty threads about it

As Gordon says you can use the inner layer, the "Trama" layer as tinder, it can be used without processing by drying well but is traditionally used to make "Amadou" where the Trama layer is Boiled with I think a Peat and Lye solution (correct me if I'm wrong I'm not 100% on that)

Rubbed with or boiled in a 'lye' (woodash solution) or soaked in a saltpetre solution for a slightly more pyrotechnic effect.

Once you have removed the trama layer dont throw the rest away, once dried you can use it for fuel. I have made amadou a few times in the past and not had to use salt peter and the likes.

Saltpetre is the traditional,commercial way of doing it. its not a necessity,but it does add a bit of zing.
