Homemade silcotton

Found this video on making silicone coated cotton and thought it may be of interest. Guess would work with nylon as well but would think better near fires with cotton.

How strange! I’m currently working on this exact project this weekend.. I’ve just finished sewing up the hanging loops and reinforcement and it’s currently sitting in a bath of coffee to dye it. Hoping to paint on the silicone this afternoon..

I should add that I’ve used this technique before for reproofing the inside of old rucksacks too! Just use a paintbrush.
