Well after handling a TLIM blade I decided that I needed to make my next knives from scratch. So I've built myself a small forge, and tonight fired it up for the first time. I oil quenched 2 blades, and tempered them in the oven

I shall let you know how I get on from here!

Nice work, they look really tidy. Are they stock removal and heat treated on the forge or actually forged? What steel did you use?

Sorry Sasquatch, that was a bit misleading wasn't it. This is stock removal from 3mm 01 tool steel, and just heated to non magnetic and quenched in oil from the forge.

All good and tidy looking all the same. I was confused, thought you must have a hammer forged by the gods to bang those out! Good stuff, thanks for sharing. Now that you have the forge are you going to start bashing some projects out with it?

Thanks for all the kind comments guys.

I do hope at some point hope to hammer some lumps into different lump shape, but for the short term at least it will just be for the hardening of 01 blades.

The forge is set up with a hair dryer to blow air up and under the charcoal.

I'm off out to do a bit more to them now :)
