Anyone got any experience of the Jura 2 person tent?

I've got a Highlander Forces 2 tent, which is alright. I swapped out the fibre glass poles and the pegs and got the weight down to about 2.2kg, but I'd like something a little smaller pack size and a little lighter. I figure again, swapping out the fibre glass pole on the Jura and the pegs could get it to maybe 1.8 or .9 kg, and would hope it would pack smaller.
But anyone know how it performs.
I see its head is 1500, which might be a bit of a worry. Also, be interested in how it performs in the wind,m and how big the porch is.

THanks

I've got one of those, from Vince who works at Nordic Outdoors and it seems a good wee tent.

TBH I haven't used it yet though as I'm still using bashas and ponchos.

I'm interested in folks experience of it too.

Can I ask you, how tall are you and how well you fit the tent. I'm 5'11" and have a couple where I have to sleep diagonally. Also, what's the porch like?

Thanks

Surely there must be someone out there with one. I can't find any reviews on google, and only scant mention of them. Isn't there anyone out there with one who can give some details?

I have one and it works well for the price.... Not had it out in big winds but have camped in the wet and down to minus 8c. (bit of condensation but nothing else) It has a fibreglass pole and the pegs are the usual cheap steel wire but with a peg upgrade it's a solid little tent. It's a wee bit heavy if you're going far but can be split down and shared between 2. I'm 5'6" and it's ok.. May be a little cramped for you or ok if you lie diagonally

Im 5' 5" (165cm?) tall Gotte.

Thanks for the info Mad Dave.

I really should get around to using it but I'm reluctant to let the dog wreck it with his claws and clumsiness. Hence the reason I'm still using bashas/ponchos.

Thanks for the info. I'm tempted. I do like Highlander products. I;ve got a Forces 2 which is a great design. It's about 3.5 kg as is, but with a new set of alu poles from Decathlon (£14) and alu pegs, I can get it down to 2.3, which, for the space, the bombproof fabric, the excellent porch and the headroom, is really great. It gets great points for stability in Trail magazine. One of the big problems I found, though, was that it needed a couple of ties adding to the poles at the top to stop them flattening when the fly is put on and the outer touching the inner. Condensation is a bit of a problem with it as there are no vents on the fly, but it's only really a problem if the fly is touching the inner.
But I'm still looking for something sub 2kg for backpacking. I like the look of the Jura, and figure if I swap out the pole for an alu one, I can get it down maybe to sub 2kg. I just wonder about the wind profile. I hear single pole hoop tents tend not to be good in the wind. Also that hydrostatic head of 1500 has me wondering also. Still for £35.00, it might be worth trying, just to see.

Again, thanks for the help

I had a cheap lightweight cruciform pole tunnel/tent from argos (reduced to £12) and if the weather was getting heavily wet I'd rig up a poncho over it. I also aligned it so that the main pole and rear of the tent faced the wind direction.

If you buy a Jura Gotte, can you post a review on here for us (well, me really) to see please?

Cheers

Liam

Only just seen the thread. I have one and use it for scout camps and bike rallys when sleeping on the floor under a tarp is too cold/damp. I'm 6 foot with broad shoulders and does for 1 with kit nicely but would be a tight squeeze with 2. Also very easy to put up and remarkably weather resistant not a single drop of rain came in after 3 days of constant rain and although it flexes a bit is high winds it still was stable and secure come the morning.

Only negitive thing is it has no porch so you have to sleep with wet kit in the tent. But for £20 in a closing down sale i cant complain.

A friend of mine had one of these for a while. It survived a gale on an island, but he was lucky enough that it was pointed like a knife into the wind. But it did survive and stayed dry. It was quite roomy inside as I recall. I think swapping. the fibreglass poles is a good idea though.
