Hi, my name is Steve I have had a love of the outdoors from a very young age, cooking food over an open fire at the bottom of my parents garden from the age of 6 (and burning my fingers). Joined the scouts (never a cub) and ended up with the Queens Scout award. Passed my MLC (mountain leaders certificate) at the age of 17 and was a member of ESMAT (Essex scout mountain activity team, yes I know Essex is flat) taking scouts out into the mountains of Wales, Lake District and over seas. Was district mountaineering adviser to Billericay and Wickford scout group for 7 years. Worked on a voluntary basis on a couple of outward bound camps. Moved in 4x4's after a motorcycle accident which stopped me walking any kind of distance for a while (5 years), did some off-road competition stuff and was invited by one of the organisers to work part time as an instructor which ended up full time after a few months. Got to go to some great places and was paid to do it! Now I run a company that builds custom Jeeps (18 years) I have a 6 year old son that has a great love of the outdoors, so time to start all over again. He does have one advantage where we live we have our own woods, and lots of space.
Cheers Steve
