help needed knife scales!!!

I have these two pieces which i cut off a block i have, i was advised to use the piece on left as the it runs against the grain which would be stronger rather than with the grain as the right one does which would be weaker, will this matter too much on a full tang knife? I'm just not too sure...

The one on the left is the weaker of the two.

thanks guys, i have just used some as a sample and gave it a quick sanding and oiling and the dark brown and yellow colours came out beautifully.

One on left probably weaker but on a fulltang you should be ok.

Worse on a full tang, as the wood expands and contracts more. It will crack around the pins or lift away from the tang.
