Help choosing a brew kit stove.

Yup. There's a graph somewhere. But I believe the trangia is more efficient.... Or something. Need to find the graph.
But there isn't much in it unless you're a stovie.

boiling a kelly kettle on a meths stove is probably not the best comparrison. I would say the trangia should be more efficient than the tatonka and certainly wont run out of fuel at 10 mins but ive seen the tatonka boil 500 ml pretty quick too
oh yea it does for sure Mike but fl oz for fl oz the trangia will make better use of it i reckon. Ive never owned the tatonka though so im assuming based on the stainless being less conductive and taking longer to heat up.
Would be interesting to know how many cups of boiled water you can get out of each stove on one refill.
Been trying various solutions to this issue for a couple of years - this is my experience:
Triad xe stoves not great as standard - I've put a coil of thin firerope in mine. It is now much more efficient to prime + burns longer (15 + mins )
Trekka popcan stove is really good + v small- see previous posts about this on here. No need for a potstand. I bought one a couple of weeks ago to solve the problem + I'm v impressed with it
The evernew meths burner is far better than the trangia when you are in need of a quick brew. There is now a clone - mentioned/reviwed on here about 10 days ago - for approx £16??
Whitebox needs a wide based pot. Although v fast, its not v stable.
Trangia vs Tatonka - both good in my experience, marginal differences, depends how critical you want to be.
I keep burners + fuel away from pots + mugs after 1 spill to avoid any tainting

Both the clone and evernew cant be sealed with the fuel so no cigar in my case.
I can't believe that I'm going with trangia (type) burner. Same old thing about reinventing the wheel and knocking down open doors.
After days of thinking and measuring and calculating it comes down to something that have been around for years

ill bet there is a boil test for both on youtube somewhere but for me if i out in the car and want a quick brew gas is the answer, faster, cleaner and still stashes in the pot
Would a jetboil not suit you? Plenty of room to keep brew kit in there even with the stove and gas stored in there. And it'll give you plenty of burns. Much more than 2 or 3 brews. I bet there'll be a few people on here willing to part with one fairly cheaply (not me though! Love mine).

Right now I'm after something small that would fit in 450 mug with my brew kit and that would give me 2-3 cups of boiling water. It's going in to my manbag (snugpack response pack)

I also use a markill stove stored in a cup with a 100g canister. It's only 65mm x 60mm x 30mm.

Thats fair comment mate its got to suit you at the end of the day. Are you planning to only carry fuel in the stove i.e a couple of oz of meths for just the odd brew. If thats the case then i think it comes down to a pick between the trangia or tatonka and going from youtube the trangia is quicker to boil by about 30% but the tatonka holds more fuel. Reality is probably that the extra capacity in the tatonka levels up the situation in terms of total amount boiled from a fill so either will do it.
Considering the price for something I will use once a month and the simplicity trangia is a winner. It's only for my edc to chear me up or to save that poor trembling big boobed girl on platform 2
