Been lurking on the site for a wee while and thought I'd best jump in and say hi.

I'm living in Central Glasgow at the moe and am a mature student (doing my degree to become a techy teacher). Just started getting interested in bushcraft the end of last summer thanks to a mate draggin me to a re-enactment weekend. The dressing up and swinging spears part was fun but I preferred the wood/metal craft and camping out aspect of it.

Being a student I'm not really able to afford the workshops I've seen advertised so I'm here looking for tips on good resources, good locations and maybe the opportunity to meet up with like minded folks and learn a bit.

Thanks for the site

Hig

Welcome aboard Hig, there are many folk in around and near Weegieland. I'm sure you'll get a chance to meet many at some point as there's always something going on if you listen to the jungle drums...

It's a great site and well worth joining if you haven't already done so. The folks mostly don't bite and it's full of amazing and knowledgable folk who freely pass on their wisdom for us to learn from. Enjoy...

Toddy, the weekend was at Caerlaverock Castle, my mates been in a couple of groups in Scotland over the years and now describes himself as "independant" so we tagged along with the group who was running the kiddies entertainment tent. Was a great weekend the wife spent time doing womanly things and I got to try some spear work and teach some staff and short sword (I used to teach Filipino Martial Arts)
