Hi everybody, I’m new to the forums, so thanks for accepting me.
I’m an outdoor person and enjoy a multitude of outdoor activities. I have joined these forums to try and extend my very limited knowledge of bushcraft, and in particular friction fire making.
It’s something I’ve had a hankering to do for many years but just never gotten around to it. Throughout the Xmas period -when at home-I’ve done little else (Other than eating and drinking too much.) but watch YouTube videos about bushcraft and wild camping.
I’ve had lots of long hikes to gather various bits and pieces to hopefully make decent bow drill equipment from.
I’m looking forward to browsing all your experienced threads, and hopefully eventually to posting a few topics myself.
Happy new year to one and all.
Regards Chris

Hello and Welcome Chris,

If you are able to, it sounds like you might enjoy the Bushmoot. Its a bit of a trek from your part of the country, but no further than I used to have to go when it was held in South Wales.

Chris (also :)

Thanks Chris. I will give that some thought.

Hi @CPH and @demented dale et al,
I have moved a few posts to:

Intro threads are great, but when the discussion starts on actual skills it is better to have a properly descriptive title in the relevant sub-forum. Typical thread headings in the Intro area "Hello folks" "Hi there" "Hello" and "Introduction" don't really inform anyone if there is a discussion going on.
So for carrying on talk of fire by friction, can I suggest using the new thread in the Fire forum.

Cheers

Chris

Hi and my apologies. I did wonder if it was appropriate to discuss the subject on my intro thread, and probably should have known better.

It’s not a big problem.
We can all learn from any post. If You post here it will get lost. By posting a specific thread you will get all sorts of replies but you may be helping others who are interested and prodding the memories and motivation of those who already have some expertise.

Importantly we all have much more chance of retrieving your contribution either in the coming weeks or from the archive because we’ll know where to look.
