Finely chop a mix of veggies, blanche them and let them boil for a minute or two, strain and drain and dry. Result is home made broth mix that weighs very little. Celeriac added to the mix is particularly good.
When out, pick greenery/herbage as you come across it, finely pick it apart and add to your soup/stew. Bittercress is good, nettle always is ( mind only use the wee top leaves late on in the year), fresh leaf buds, and roots as your digging stick finds them ....pignuts, lesser celandines, ransoms, reedmace, slices from the base of the leaf stems from those too.....whatever's growing in your area, at that time. Tasty, healthy and interesting
Peanut butter in tubes would be very handy. It makes really tasty gravy.
cheers,
Toddy
