Finely chop a mix of veggies, blanche them and let them boil for a minute or two, strain and drain and dry. Result is home made broth mix that weighs very little. Celeriac added to the mix is particularly good.

When out, pick greenery/herbage as you come across it, finely pick it apart and add to your soup/stew. Bittercress is good, nettle always is ( mind only use the wee top leaves late on in the year), fresh leaf buds, and roots as your digging stick finds them :)....pignuts, lesser celandines, ransoms, reedmace, slices from the base of the leaf stems from those too.....whatever's growing in your area, at that time. Tasty, healthy and interesting :)

Peanut butter in tubes would be very handy. It makes really tasty gravy.
