When i stuck the axe in my hand in December i caught the bus to hospital...I know, I'm tighter than a Ducks sump valve.

As the Judge said, he had other options, but clearly being drunk his decision making was poor.

Becoming concerned at the risk of infection, Withrow used a large sewing needle and some fishing line to stitch up the wound.

Closing up a wound (unless very thoroughly cleaned) is more likely to lead to infection.
