I have a DD hammock, which i've had for a couple of years but never used. I like to have ago with it. I keep hearing about "whoopie slings" what on earth are they, & do i need them ?.

Rob

They are just a bit of adjusting cord with a loop in each end. They lock into place using compression, think Chinese finger puzzle.
Good bits ofkit and light weight. Cheap too.

Fun to make and enable easy adjustment of your hang... as long as there's very little weight in it! Once loaded they're pretty solid

Don't need them, but make adjusting the hammock so easy rather than retying straps or suchlike, you won't regret getting some :)

Cheers, Paul

Thanks for the posting of info folks. For some reason, i've no sound on my computer, but are the lengths of "tape" he puts around the tree the slings ?, if so i have some climbing slings that will do the same or similar job.

The tree huggers help protect the tree, if you think about the diameter of the whoopie sling, that will damage the tree if used straight on the tree, using tree huggers helps protect the tree.

I use climbing slings in my setup too but they are slightly limiting (use 2 x 240s myself - so only have 120 that can affectively be used)
