Hammock and boots?

The only thing that works well in a jungle environment is hanging boots under the tarp. I learned the first night of rain to always hang the hammock and tarp up high too. It rains so hard at times that the water will splash up on you and the underside of the basha.

I used to use sticks or just leave them on the ground when I had a regular hammock but since getting a Hennesey hammock this have been less easy.
Rigging the hammock high means it's a big reach down to the ground. Sticks makes it accessible but putting them on is a pain as the Hennessy entry slot contracts when you sit in it and you have to struggle to put them on.

Any ideas

I have a conventional hammock but my son uses a Hennesey. He still uses the sticks method but uses shorter sticks and places them directly under the entry slot. In the morning he sticks his feet through, grabs each boot in turn with his feet and places them on the ground right way up. Feet in the boots and lace them when you emerge from the hammock.

Sounds a bit fiddly but he's never had a problem with this method

On a Hennessey, boots with laces that are long enough (all those that I have owned) can have their laces tied to the ridgeline and left to dangle through the velcro just outside the opening right at the foot end of the hammock. I take the laces up and over either side of the line then bring them back down and do a single overhand knot underneath the ridgeline. The weight of the boots keeps the knot from un-doing and all I need to do to detatch the boots is lift them slightly and the laces can just be pulled loose.

.... left to dangle through the velcro just outside the opening ....

Aah! This sounds good!

Fin, I have also being doing what your son does but in the tropical rainforest I like to have a good look inside first. I have been zapped by a centipede once and three times have found frogs inside the boots.

Recently, I tried making a platform for the boots but it is a bit of a hazard when you emerge groggily for a midnight wee!
