I thought I would show you our dog Gypsy after her op yesterday! She looked like she had visited all the pubs in the town :D She is recovering slowly, not completely off the food though.
She has 18 stitches and she wants to lick or pull at them so:

And the gory bit :D

Thought I would give an update.. Gypsy is getting a bit better after her op. Still weak and lost a lot of weight, but she seems to enjoy her food a bit more.. Hopefully on the mend. Thanks for the support and to the people who bought my knives, It will definitely help with the (large)bill :You_Rock_ !!!

Wot a gorgeous looking pup :)

Was it a planned op or an accident? My uncle has a retired greyhound and she has just had 35 stiches put in after she ripped her side open on a branch chasing through the local woods.
Very nasty wound but as animals do she just soldiered on without complaint or a whimper while my uncle ran carrying her to get help.

Glad Gypsy is feeling better :)

No, its was a tumour. We thought at first from her behaviour, she was having a fantom pregnancy and that one of the teats had got infected so took her to the vet. She had to have the op last week, poor old thing.. she has been feeling really miserable and sorry for herself :(

We have a black lab also.. she cut herself open on some barbed wire once some yaers ago ,and she carried on running like if nothing had happened, that is, until she got to the vet.. then she became very sorry for herself :D

Thats so typical of labs, who cares about pain, when there is fun to be had....
All the best with Gypsy.......

i can see all these crime shows on tv an nothing bothers me, i see a hurt dog or child and thats it i'm a blubbering wreck , can't watch the RSPCA ad's without wanting to give them my life savings which isn't alot :lmao: , i wish Gypsy a swift and full recovery

She is indeed getting better. Although still skinny as a rake, and not keen on eating,(she never has, strange dog) The tumour has been found to be benign. Having said that the vet said it could come back, so we'll have to keep a careful eye on her.

The cheekyness is returning, I left her in her bed in the lounge for 10minutes, when I came back she was on the sofa  !!!

That silly dog has become even more skinny! She is being really difficult with her food now. Been to the vet again and she has lost weight since her op  Any ideas what to do with an anorexic dog  The op site is healing nicely, she is not constipated :o she just does not seem to like food :thinkerg: :dunno:

Yup Big Daddy, i'm just the same. My job is being rather nasty to highly paid people and i don't have any guilt or regret (It's their choice), but show me an abused dog or child, vet prog, Dog's trust ad, whatever, and my cheeks are wetter than an otters pocket! :(

Seriously Jojo, hope Gypsy makes a swift recovery, i'm not sure how i would handle it if my two Labs became crocked!

Just to let you guys know, Gypsy died today. The poor old girl never really recovered after her op, she was a bit better for a couple of weeks and then went down hill. Refusing to eat anything and lost more and more weight. She lost the will to carry on living, I think.
We finally took her to our vet and she was put to sleep this afternoon.:(

Oh that's sad news :( . We have always had at least three dogs in the house at any one time for all of my 38 years but nothing ever prepares you for when the time comes that they have to leave you. My thoughts are with you and you should be proud (as I am sure you are) of that girl for putting up such a noble fight.
