I assume it's the price of a single peg, some of the heavy duty surplus pegs I found were quite expensive and collection only. i think I picked up mine for a couple of quid each.
I am also likely to be working on my own but with the capstan winch it should be easy enough to stop the pull. And I'll start off gently before trying anything too big.
