Grass snake activity

Had a great spot yesterday, initially thought this little chap was dead, belly up etc but it looks like it went into it's defensive position before I spotted it.
What's more interesting is it must be near it's nest (if that's the correct term) as I spotted it again tonight in the same place, this time it was looking as if it was waiting for it's next meal.
Only downside is this is only about four foot from a main path so hopefully it will not get too disturbed or harassed by local dogs.

Looks like a male close to sloughing its skin. Won't be anywhere near a laying sight, or have any interest in food until that cycle is completed. Snakes bask in the same spots or in the near vicinity year after year. He may move on a bit when he sheds his skin. Worth checking about the area in the next week or so to find it. It will be close to that area.
