Also I wonder how energy and cost efficient the water desalination using Graphene is compared with the tech developed here on Cayman.

Graphene leaks, but they have figured out how to control the pore size in the easily made graphene oxide.
From what I read, the thing is passive.

That is excellent news, the desal water should be much cheaper than now.
