Google Chromecast and Kindle Fire HD?

It appears that these two devices are not compatible, is this correct or am I missing a trick here?

There's a couple of articles on how to get them working together (though not all features will work seemingly) There's also a discusion about it on Amazon's website here. I'm new to the Kindle Fire, but as I don't have the Chromecast thingy I couldn't say how easy it'll be. Though it appears simple enough from the steps discussed in the link.

Thanks GB but I'm no technowhizz, so anything other than down loading an "app" that will get the thing going is pretty much quantum physics to me!

Instead of wasting £30 on the real thing (Chromecast) I should've just bought an old Wii and used that instead

I don't know about chromecast but I connect my kindle fire to the TV by a cable bought off Amazon or ebay , connects to Hdmi 3 socket . I can then watch Netflix etc ��

Unfortunately, the latest kindle fire HD (mine anyway) doesn't have a micro hdmi port!

But even if it did, I don't really want any more wires trailing from the back of the telly!

As lots of people on the net point out, they are both Android devices, so in theory....

In practice it seems more difficult, but according to these two links, its possible.

Don't know much about how the chromecast works with the Kindle Fire although I think some amazon based stuff is 'deliberately incompatible with other stuff (e.g. can't play Lovefilm on android devices apart from Kindle Fire).

I have a chromecast myself running on my android phone, tablet, laptop etc and it's a great gadget. Apart from watching netflix wirelessly, you can 'cast' youtube videos to your TV as well as watching on demand TV from BBC, Channel4, etc. You can also cast live TV to your TV (sounds silly I know but it saves me paying for a second cable box in my bedroom) via a free android app called FilmonTV.

I'm actually thinking of getting rid of my TV package, land line (can't remember the last time I used my landline-can't even remember the number) and going internet only...I'll still need my TV licence but will save about £50 a month that I can buy bushcrafty things with instead...

The best app I use to stream on my htc is allcast its by clockwork mod and will let you stream any file to chromecast etc
