Dave Budd, Robevs, Fgyt, are all members on here and do blanks. (sorry if I missed out any other makers on here)

You can also try Bernie Garland for them as well.

Hi mate, do you have a budget?
I'm lucky enough to have 2 of Bernies knives, a B&t model made from a blank and his bushcraft design and can say that they are IMO superb! No association etc! :)

Budget is the best for the least but in all honesty it depends on quality etc as that costs but is normaly worth it do they have websites?

Do you have a preferred style or main use(s) in mind?
What type of blank would you be after ~ a production model blank (enzo trapper, lauri etc) or a makers blank? Or do you fancy having some input on the particulars?

The price will vary wildly ~ a 'production line' blank may not be the cheaper option ;) .

Thanks i'll be looking through those sites the knife i lost is a Helle-eggen not a top notch knife but did the job.

My uses have changed now i live near the coast prising limpits opening oysters etc cutting cordage being the bulk of the tasks at the moment so any advice greatly received.

They've got a good rep  .

So, possibly a corrosion resistant blade then ~ not necessarily stainless as some carbons steels are quite resistant as well.

It sounds like you're after a slicer and dicer (as opposed to a beater). If you want to knock limpets off, might it be worth looking at something similar to the Skookum Bush Tool ~ or, due to a long waiting list, a design which incorporates the metal pommel plate.

That looks a good idea with a metal pommel is that part of the blank or attached to the back of the handle?

Dave

It's welded to the tang  .
If I recall correctly, Robevs has made a version ~ off hand, I can't think of anyone else on the forum who has plated a butt :dunno: .

Neither can I off hand, but it isn't hard to do.

That said I personally wouldn't be bashing limpets off with my knife. - That's what the local rock are for. Or indeed a stick.
