I wonder if anyone could clarify something about this pack? Endicotts sell one they describe as around 35 litres in capacity. It is the one reviewed on this site by Wayland. It has the facility for a waist strap but no actual strap.

GI Surplus have a similar pack for sale which they describe as 45 litre and which seems to have a built in waist strap.

Are these one and the same (different estimates on capacity) or are there two versions of this pack available, a larger one with waist strap and a smaller version without?

Yes, Endicotts is where I got my first one from.

Haven't measured the capacity but it sounds about right.

I have just checked the listed dimensions on of the Endy one and the GI Surplus version. The latter is bigger so there do seem to be two versions around. I ask because the 45 litre would suit me especially as there is a waist strap but the 35 litre is probably a bit too small.

Anyone out there have the 45 litre waist strap version? If so how do you find them?

Wayland, you now have two?? Are they the same size?

I suspect it depends where you measure it from. Top, bottom or middle.

I'm pretty sure the GI Surplus one is exactly the same as the Endy one.

I bought a new copy of Ebay just to see what it was like. Same size, slightly different material and buckles.

I've had to make a couple of minor repairs where stitching has given way due to inferior thread I think but otherwise OK

Hmmm...I've just seen one on ebay advertised as 25 litres! Thanks Gary, I suspect you're right. One version, many descriptions

I've got the leather strap version and would estimate it at nearer to 35ltrs rather than 45ltrs....great pack though, i've had it a couple of years and have just treated it with Barbour thornproof wax this evening so am now keen to see how well it works.....fortunately we have the weather to test it...:p
