I did own one of these briefly and would advise on avoiding it. I'm normally a fan of German army gear, but the cordura material isn't as durable as the Karrimor or British PLCE material and the back system is terrible - in fact there isn't one (the folding German army sleeping matts are surposed to be inserted into a sleeve at the rear of the rucksack to make it rigid and to act as padding). I must admit that it looks ok in the photo, but I would personally go for the Sabre.

Thanks jay
I found out about the frame issue from flecktarn.co.uk got a friend who could cut me an aluminium sheet to the required size.
When you say the material isnt too durable, did yours rip / tear easy? or did the material quality just feel that way?

On my green issue one (these were issued prior to the flecktarn camouflage ones) the cordura material felt soft and had a coarser weave when you compared it to the British plce material.

I'm not too sure if the later camouflage ones used the same material though. Also, double check that the rucksack is genuine German army issue - there are alot of copies made by companies like 'miltec' on the market (infact alot of the German equipment which is listed as new on the flecktarn site are copies).

All genuine Germany army equipment will have a nato stock number in the form of xxxx-12-xxx-xxxx (with 12 being the nato code for Germany and the xs being other numbers depending on the item).

I now own a Sabre 45 and am very happy with it. Cheers.

Well i took jays advice and asked the seller about the NSN , this was his reply

" Unfortunately the nato lables have been removed and there is evidence of where they were. The bags come from a reputable specialist wholesaler but as they are army surplus the military sometimes do odd things before releasing them. that I can not be more reassuring but I am confident that they are not cheap copies and trust my wholesaler who tells me that they are genuine German Army. "

that answer plus jays & ogden comments mean i will be picking up a Sabre 45 instead

thanks for your helpfull posts guys :headbang:

No probs - I'm glad I could help :)

Also, if you look at the waist belt, the sabre offers much better support - the belt on the German rucksack is only about 2.5cm wide.

Cheers.
