You'll not going to believe this, I can't myself because I've obviously been a bit stupid but it raises the question 'where do you store your gear'
Mine is in 'really useful boxes' in the garage, but that's not very unbelievable. What is is that I was clearing out the bottom of the wardrobe back in march. Knowing myself well, I stuck the whole lot on the bed. This means that you can't give up and go to sleep till the job is done.
Unfortunately one of the bags contained among other things two or three pots of that hotel quantity milk cartons. Crushed rather than shaken or stirred. Said milk leaked through the bags and onto the bed (which was devoid of sheets) and filled the room with a fragrant odor which was pretty awful. I wrapped the bag in plastic bag and put it by the bin to be sorted as there was some useful gear in it.
Of course what actually happened was that I ended up cleaning the bed and forgetting about said gear and milk carton and it got tided away by either myself of the missus into the corner of the room.
Just now, whilst looking for my log book so I can sell my car, I find my missing petzel torch, firesteel and cutlery in a blue bag with very, very furry milk (and stink).
Wondered why the room was smelling a bit funky - my wife had been blaming me and I'd been doing likewise
On the plus side, I don't need a new Petzel so that can come off the christmas list
