Hi has anyone had anything or know about the above company? I'm after a smock "don't really want to pay fjallraven prices" and there's didn't seem too bad a price, had a look in search engine and it didon't come back with any results
Cheers Carl

Been seeing their ads on my various feeds as well. I believe it's a company set up by Johan Scullman, an outdoor instructor who has been involved with Fjallraven for several years. He has done loads of videos on using their gear and lead their Arctic Challenge every year.
As for the kit, i don't know much about it, save that it looks very similar to Fjallraven, with similar form and function.

That's where I've been seeing it too, just wondered if anyone had tried their gear? Might take a punt on one as they're giving 10% off first order if you sign up

Well, I've just ordered a pair of their trousers. It'll be interesting to see how quickly they arrive, what the fit 'n' fabric is like and the quality of manufacture. They look good but time and experience will tell.

I've just received an email back from them, they won't be doing the smocks in 3xl until Jan next yr, it's a pain being tall "ish"
Might have to console myself with a pair of specialist trousers until then

I really liked the look of their smock - better than the fjallraven one (that I have)

I agree. I have a Fjallraven Smock No.1, which I've always felt is uncomfortably overpriced; the Gerphyttan Original Smock seems to be a better thought out jacket at about half the price. When the trousers arrive, I'll have a better idea about the quality of the fabric and manufacture; if both are good, I might just part company with the Fjallraven. We shall see.

Well, my Original trousers arrived yesterday - having been ordered less than a week before, which, by most standards, is impressive.

I was able to take them out for a little try yesterday, too. The fabric is a good weight - solid without being stiff - polyester/cotton mix and I have to admit that I like the green colour that I chose - leafy but not too olive. It is important to follow the recommendations on the website for ordering a size above what you think you might need from the sizing chart as they are cut fairly snugly. The chart suggested I needed a size 50, so I ordered 52 and they seem to be an appropriate choice. Wearing them, I was impressed with their comfort and particularly with their leg length, as it can be very difficult to find things long enough.

The pockets seem pretty good, too. The hand pockets are much as you might expect, as are the rear pockets, which have flaps but no press studs or velcro to keep them shut. There are two, generously-sized thigh pockets with press stud closures which sit more on the front of the thigh than round to the side. I am sure there is a reason for this but, as yet, have not figured out what it is; at any rate, they didn't get in the way or feel awkward. The right thigh pocket seems to have some arrangement for storing/carrying a knife but I haven't tried it out yet. I have a sneaking feeling that my preferred knife will not fit the gap provided nor the little poppered strap thing inside but I could be wrong.

There are reinforcement patches at the ankle and a buckled strap for tightening the hem around your boots, should you need or want to; this strap is also removable. The fabric at the knees is doubled for the inclusion of knee pads and the knees are articulated, facilitating easier movement.

Although I didn't need to use them, it is good to see the inclusion of long, double-ended zip vents on the thighs. They will, I'm sure, be useful in warmer conditions or when I am more active.

In terms of fit and finish, they are not at the Fjallraven/Norrona/Klattermusen levels but then you are not paying those sort of prices. Thus far, I am impressed with them and think that they offer an alternative to what's currently available at a reasonable price point. Whether they prove durable is something for the future. I'll take them out with my dogs later on today and see how they - and I - fare.

I find thigh pockets on the side of the leg really annoying as anything remotely weighty will pull on the trousers and not move with my leg as I'm moving around. So I really prefer thigh pockets that are on the front, even if the content can dig in and be hard to get out when you're sitting down.

I'm also interested in their jackets, the Original Smock in particular. Trouble is, I definitely do not need another one, so I must resist that temptation! However, I'd love to see a review of it, ideally a comparative one alongside a Fjallraven equivalent.

My trouble is being 6ft 4" & long arms, they've already stated that the xxl won't be big enough ☹, I don't think fjallraven would fit & I begrudge paying that sort of money. Roll on next yr when they get some normal sizes in stock , my downfall are my Theoben Rapids, I've spent way too much money on them this yr, new stocks / scopes / night vision / getting them fettled

Take a look at Helikon-Tex.

Does anyone have hands-on experience with the Original Smock?

Unfortunately my CS95 smock is too tight in the shoulders for layering, so I'm looking for an alternative (and yes, the no. 1 is too £££).

I visited their website, possibly asked a question and now I get promotional emails every week and often more than once a week. I find that annoying. Much better to have opt in marketing than opt out.

Having said that their stuff is interesting. Men only and no kids unlike Fjallraven brand which at least recognises that women need outdoor clothes too.

A bit of an update on the trousers that I ordered and of which I sang praises earlier: they are, perhaps not as well finished as I had originally thought or hoped. The seam by the front pocket on the right hand side has - well - 'popped', leaving a small but annoying hole. Thus far, it hasn't expanded but it seems to be something of a weakness at an important point of the trousers. I have done a 'comparative check' with other, similar trousers that I use regularly and these are the one ones that have failed in that area.

Having said that, I do still like their practicality and the fabric, which seems durable and tough; it is only the stitching that has let me down thus far.

I bought Garphyttan Specialist anorak (they have also Specialist jacket and trousers) from their webshop last spring. Price was 199 € and packet was delivered in five days. I have been using the anorak a lots in sommer, autumn, and even in winter time.

My experiences of the quality is only positive. Fabric is very strong and durable. It's water repellent and can be waxed like Fjällreven jackets. Specialist Anorak has very strong zippers and the quality of the work seems to be excellent.

It's clear that anorak is designed by person(s) who themselves are heavy outdoor people. Anorak has lot's of cleaver details. Long zippers on the sides for ventilation and making it easier to put on. Big adjustable hood. Lots of pockets and even big "letterbox" pocket on the back. And of course kangaroo pocket on the front. It has even croth strap. And the back of the anorak comes low and protects your lower back and buttocks. So over all its very well designed and made "old school" anorak made for heavy use.

I don't have any review of the Garphyttan Specialist anorak, but you can see me wearing it in this autumn hiking video.
