Thanks for the comments so far. :) It was in a mixed woods, mainly pine/birch, quite wet too. Quite a few flies on it but didn't smell strong. Size about 15-20cm long by 10cm across if that helps.

Thanks Geoff. Guessing the state of decay makes an definite ident very tricky. Looking at the Crimson Waxcaps pic again, the gills are uniform colour which doesn't match.
