I'm currently in the process of draining a fish pond. Lost the fish during last year's cold winter and with a 3 year old running around I thought it safer to turn it into a sand pit for a few years. Got most the water out a couple of months ago but now I've finally found time to carry on with the job I've noticed several large clumps of frog/toad spawn. I know these creatures have been on the decline in recent years so would like to somehow save these ones if possible.
So my question is can frogspawn be safely moved? There are a couple of possible places in the garden I could move it to.

Mike.

Yes it can move - as kids we used to catch/hatch them in aquarium and jam jars before it became frowned upon. I would research the best habitat. e.g make sure their new home is close by, has easy access both in and out of the water (some sort of ramp), ideally no predators and plenty of cover from vegetation.

They should be fine.

Don't really want move it without seeking advice. Wasn't there a virus going around recently? Wouldn't want to risk spreading anything around.
