I found a vague reference in The Lake District Anglers Guide by Laurence Tetley to a half a mile area above Bolton Bridge that is free to fish provided you have a rod licence (which I do), has anyone any more info on this? The book was written in 1999 and as such it's info may be out of date.
Most of the rivers and stream fishing around here is pretty expensive but at £15 a day etc it soon becomes a rich persons game. It's such a shame as there are some stunning secluded areas and I have recently seen trout in one of the smaller streams. If that section of the Eden really is free then that would be great as it's close to my home!
