Using the roundhouse and shave horses built by previous courses, the objective of this course is to build a series of pole lathes similar to the “viking” pattern.
Five day green woodworking/pole lathe course finished yesterday.
Four traditional lathes built and although there was not enough time to get anything like proficient it is easy to see how wood turning can become addictive.
I think you're a lucky man scoring a course like that
There are a lot of traditional furniture pieces that are made from pole lathe worked timbers. Needs practice and skill to get symmetry right across the bits, but 'rustic' is still very sound
