Just a thought , If you want New then fine , however having seen the quality of the surplus stock of Saracens and Stings Endicotts have in , I was plenty surprised at just how good they are, and bearing in mind Endicotts will further grade them by their own standards I think it may worth looking at those aswell.

good point Teedee

But if you want some thing you can break in yourself and build up a sentimental attachment to then these are a good option and also the auctions have a best offer option so you can haggle with the seller!

I'll just chuck in a small word of caution. The Stings being sold are the civvie version (like the one in the member review on here) in a woodland pattern, not the full on Dutch military version.

There are some differences and I have compared the rucks side by side.

They are still cracking bags though whichever you go for.

Very minor TBH.

Where you've put your axe and bivi poles in your review there is a strap at the bottom there on the outside of the 'pocket' on the military version to tighten things in a bit.

There is a pair of straps on the military version where the ice axe loops are that close off onto clips on the front. Again it looks like they help tighten the ruck and support the base but also provides a handy place for a kip mat or similar. I've tried that using the extra straps supplied as extensions and it works very well and doesn't increase the overall width of the bag with pockets. They also work well for adding an extra side pocket horizontally (light stuff only of course) to increase capacity.

The lids that go over the zip are the side pockets are deeper on the army version.

I like both a lot and I'm in no way trying to put down one or the other. Quality is equal IMO and I was just pointing out that the two aren't totally the same should anyone get caught out unknowingly.

Are you in the dutch army? Me too..... but I'm also considering the Karrimor's ...
Have you experience with them in the field?
