I was born in California in 1968, both my parents worked in the aeronautical industry and I had one sister. We moved to Washington DC when I was young after my father got a post at NASA as an antenna specialist. After graduated at high school I spent the summer travelling in my Datsun and then enrolled at Emory University where I received a bachelors degree in history and anthropology.
In May 1990 I gave away the remainder of my of my savings to Oxfam and embarked on the adventure of a lifetime using a different name. I travelled through Arizona, California and South Dakota picking up work where I could. In 1991 with minimal kit I paddled a canoe down the Colorado River into the Gulf of California.
In 1992 my ultimate dream came true, I hitched a lift to Fairbanks, Alaska and then onto the Stampede Trail.

Any more clues and it's just too easy :)

This adventurer was born in 1898 in Cheshire. Educated at Berkhamstead Boys School. He was a Royal Artillery Gunner in WW1 and WW2 being awarded the MC twice for bravery. His climbing started in Kenya where he climbed several mountains there for the first time. He was involved in the two 1930's Everest Expeditions reaching 27,200 feet without oxygen. Norgay Tensing was a young Sherpa during these expeditions.
As he became too old to ascend high altitudes he took up sailing a Bristol Channel Pilot Cutter and climbed several mountains only accessible from the sea.
He dissappeared without trace aged eighty at sea on an expedition in the Falklands area.
As a person he was very reticent and not much personal information is written down except for his several lovely books on various expeditions.
Who is this fellow?
