Just heard on the news, that this particular strain of FMD, is exactly the same as some the government were doing tests on at nearby pirbright reference laboratory. They think it's leaked out.
This outbreak would seem to be a man-made affair, with the F+M leaking somehow from a nearby Govt establishment.
I feel deeply sorry for anyone whos livestock, and therefore livelyhood, might be affected by this. I sincerely hope that if a link between the Govt establishment and the outbreak is confirmed, that ALL parties affected by the outbreak will be properly and adequately compensated.
To realise that this sort of thing CAN happen makes me shiver. I challenge anyone to read the beginning of Stephen Kings "The Stand" and NOT worry about the sort of nasties that the scientists are mucking about with in places like Porton Down....
IF this proves to be true, those responsible should, IMHO pay with their liberty and livelihood, as well as their wallet. If this has happened, as seems entirely possible, criminal negligence should be just the start. I for one would not stand by and see another "no-one to blame" whitewash
To manufacture better vaccines for the natural disease. It common for diseases that are held for lab work to be adjusted. One the reasons is that in an event of pathogens being released it can quickly found where, who and why the accident happened.

having said that,brazil and argentina are the worlds largest exporter of corned beef and f&M is in all their cattle.beef containing the virus is safe to eat ,so i dont fully understand the reaction,can anyone inform me better?
