The smiley was there to show that this should not be taken too seriously, except I like the looks. Some of the more traditional folders I have are not all metal at the hinge but I guess I did not buy them for EDC use, some also might have issues with galvanic corrosion. Hackman butterfly puukko is hinged directly to the plastic handle and has served well for 30 years, the problem being the butterfly functionality in some minds ...

Obviously much depends upon the types of plastic that the metal pivot engages with.

50 years ago I bought a Hackman butterfly knife, which had pivot pins in plastic and it was working perfectly until it was disposed of a bit over 10 years ago. There are a lot of examples for sale as vintage in other countries (you can search for photos if you want), proving they hold up.

Note. We are not allowed to buy, sell, give or own butterfly knives now in the UK. This was just mentioned as an example of pivot longevity.

Whether you’d call any knife with its pivot in plastic a Barlow, I leave to those who know.

Anyone own a half decent belt pouch for my new Barlow, as I've been having a look online and there are loads of styles and tbh I didn't want to spend to much.
I'll put a ''Wanted'' post on the sale's page aswell.
Cheers
