Kleppers have been around for ages.

I do wonder how well the 'hinges' would last in that folding boat. Kleppers would be a bit more repairable on the go.

hmm looks neat but i wonder about the longevity and durability...still would be cool though. I love the pack down canoe lars monsen has in his shows seems more durable

Yea I was looking at that, and from a quick glance it looks like it could be a issue. I saw it in a artical from Wired October last year saying ETA Mid December but it's still not "Launched", and thanks for the Lars Monsen hat tip that thing looks amazing.

Sorry - wrong name - should be Porta-bote. http://www.porta-bote.com/index.php sold in UK by http://www.nestawayboats.com/page5.htm

Seen them in the flesh at several boat shows, and taked to a number of owner in th US - all very complientary. Loads of info about them on the net, including an aussie who's had one for 12 years, and despite their sun/UV and lots of coral mishaps, its still going strong. THe flexibe nature apparently helps in rough water, flexing a bit and lessening the impact. Can get sailing kits for them, but I'd be tempted to rig side-floats for stability! Very nice, but a bit pricey....
