Hi guys,

I was wondering if anybody could point me in the right directs to where I could purchase some reasonably priced flint nodules. I am a complete beginner amd have used up my supply of flint making arrow heads. Been using glass but I cannot improve my skills set and need the real thing. Any help would be welcomed.

Cheers

I believe Will Lord gets his flint nodules from here but he tends to buy in bulk.

Whereabouts do you live as if you're in a flint area you can just walk the field edges at ploughing time to pick nodules up for free.

If you cover the postage I can send you any amount you want, Sussex is built out of the stuff. I don’t often pick it up but this bit appealed to me the other day. Gesturing that a cup of tea is a great idea :)

I was talking to Will Lord yesterday and he was talking about a scenario where he ran out of flint and apparently, he recovered by finding an old chalk mine, as back in the day, chalk was used for lime etc and the flint was stashed to one side. Someone would take certain pieces for buildings and another would take high quality for flintlocks but even then there would remain a massive load of flint that wasn't taken.
Maybe check out a local chalk site near you if there is one..

I'll be hunting for flint too very soon

Strange there's no flint in Flintshire! Might be a good excuse for a trip to the east coast?

Only thing you find in the river mersey is turds. Sorry only joking. I am in normandy right now for the 80th anniversary of D day and I have found a few good piece. So that will keep me busy for the time being

Bloody hell you wouldn't kidding about Sussex being made of the stuff
I’ll take some pics of the houses, barns and walls on the way up to that spot that’s littered with it. That loose stuff looks like it was part of something, or the unused stuff, or a storage area for flint. POWs were responsible for the building of many of the estate walls, and I know that the area where I took the pics was close to Slindon Airfield, which had a barracks, room for 4 airships, and 7 miles of aerial ropeway to get timber out of the woodland for cordite production without need for a road that was visible from the air.

A bit further down the track is/was a dummy airfield to distract German spotters further. It’s an interesting area.
